Arts and Entertainment

New York is most famous for being the modern cultural hub of our diverse country. When visiting this vibrant city, tourists and residents will acquire a taste for the finer arts and the plethora of entertainment options. New York, and one of the most notable areas Washington Square, has plenty to offer in the arts and entertainment area.

New York hosts dozens of annual art and entertainment shows and festivals each year. Some of these annual events include the Pre-Luna New Year Gala, New York Antiques and Fine Art Fair, New York National Boat Show, Wilkil Summer Art Series, the Rockabilly Music Festival, and a 17-day long New York Film Festival. Although these New York art and entertainment activities only take place once a year, there are still many options available all the time. Theaters shows, such as famous Broadway Productions as well as less well-known productions, are in constant show all over the city. If you prefer art to Broadway entertainment, New York is home to some of the finest art museums and schools in the world. The majority of these museums are open to the public with a small or free admission. There are also concerts, movies, and bands to suit any musical taste around the New York City area.

For those who choose to venture out of the city to some other extravagantly beautiful neighborhoods, Washington Square in Greenwich Village is a large park area offering all who visit fun and relaxation. Like the city, Washington Square Park has hosted an Annual Art Exhibit for the past 81 years, offering over 100 artists and original paintings. The event began by artists Jackson Pollock in 1931 when he was desperate for money and for his paintings to sell. Washington Square offers many opportunities and venues for arts and entertainment. When visiting New York City or Washington Square visitors and residents will never lack the beauty they seek.
