New York Sports

New York is one of the most beautiful cities in the United States and many tourists who come to visit this country choose to visit this city also for it has a lot of high buildings, among the highest worldwide. New York is the most populated city in the United States and also one of the most populated cities in the world. The city is at its highest level in several ways such as trade, finance, media, fashion, art, research, technology, education and entertainment. Besides all this, New York is considered the cultural capital of the world.

Sport has a definite place in the metropolis, especially baseball, which is one of the most popular sports in the United States of America. Here in New York there are two great baseball teams, the New York Yankees and New York Mets. Yankees boasts 27 league titles, while the Mets managed to win the trophy twice. In the second league of baseball there are other teams that have a major success which are Staten Island Yankees and Brooklyn Cyclones.

American football, another very popular sport in this country, also has two teams in this city: the New York Jets and the New York Giants. New York is the only metropolis that has three teams in a sports league: New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders. New York Knicks is another great team in this city, but this time it comes from basketball while from the European football, called soccer in America, is the Red Bull New York.

Madison Square Garden was opened in 1968 with a cost of 1.1 billion dollars and has a capacity of 18,200 seats. It is one of the largest stadiums in the world and it hosts the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers. Also it hosted some of the biggest concerts in the world.

Also, if you want to avoid someday the chaotic busy life in New York City and to watch a match with a couple of friends and a beer, you should visit the relaxing Washington Square. It has many pubs and bars where most sports are viewed from terraces and nice and chilling bars such as the Thirsty Lion. Moreover, in Washington Square you will find the Washington Square Sports Medicine where specialized doctors are ready to give their best in treating the athletes.
